The Solid Waste Services Department of the City of Charlotte operates one of the largest municipal collection systems in the southeastern United States. On a daily basis, their team of over 300 employees face a myriad of challenges including equipment malfunctions, staffing shortages, adverse weather conditions, and obstacles on collection routes such as parked cars, overfilled carts, or items not properly set out for collection. Despite these challenges, they strive to ensure efficient and timely collection and disposal of garbage.

These challenges directly impact the quality of service provided, the department's budget, and customer satisfaction.

Introducing Trash Dash CLT: an interactive game that puts you in control of Solid Waste Services. In this game, you will face common challenges encountered by the waste management team.

Your ultimate goal is to collect as much trash as possible in order to keep the city satisfied! By successfully collecting trash on time, you will contribute to Charlotte's happiness quotient and be rewarded with additional trucks to cope with the increasing waste generated by a growing population. However, failing to collect trash on time will result in a decrease in Charlotte's happiness level, ultimately leading to game over.

As your fleet of trucks fills up with waste, you must ensure they are promptly sent for dumping at the landfill. Moreover, regular monitoring and repair of your trucks is necessary to prevent breakdowns.

Similar to real-life waste management operations, the trash keeps piling up without ceasing. As different areas of the city experience varying growth rates, it will be up to you to adapt and efficiently manage your fleet within the given timeframe.
